This company is not yet authorized. It was a very expensive range and i am very disappointed in the product! In general, downdraft ranges get a lot of complaints because it's impossible for a downdraft's airflow to be as effective as traditional ventilation.
The four top burners are so versatile & make surface cooking a joy! The appearance is high end. I have had a couple downdrafts with gas range tops and actually have a kitchenaid downdraft in our current home.
So really anything was going to seem better. The cook top has plenty of room for even large pots. The true test will be with daily use over a period of years.
The gas is not gas but dual fuel or a gas top over an electric oven. And, of course, both feature kitchenaid's new design language. I would work hard for hood system in any case.
The kitchenaid electric downdraft range looks every bit the part with its beautiful knurled knobs and handle. Now with an induction system you will have less heat but still steam and cooking oils. There is not enough counter depth for a telescoping downdraft, nor is venting through the roof an option as there is a second story above the kitchen.
The last kitchenaid electric oven i reviewed, the kfdd500ess, took 17.75 minutes to cook the burgers, so it was good to see improvement in the broiling speed within the brand. But the functionality is a major reason this vent is great. In some models where the vent is built into the range top, that will come at.

As you can see the range is beautiful but quality is not the best. Without a major kitchen remodel, we had no choice but to find another downdraft range. You can also recirculate the downdraft and eliminate the ductwork entirely, which is great especially in the city and other spaces where venting is impossible.
